Terms of Use
What using Peakwilderness means
By reading these pages you accept that they are a set of outdoor reading notes and not a guide that replaces your own judgement on the ground. You also accept the rules below, which govern how the content may be used. Questions can go to [email protected].
Outdoor information, not a safety guarantee
Everything here about hiking, trekking, camping and wildlife is general information and personal opinion. Mountains, weather, water levels, trail closures, fire restrictions and animal behaviour change quickly and differ by place. Nothing on the site is a guarantee of safety or a substitute for a current forecast, a map, local ranger or land authority guidance, proper training, or emergency services. Check the maker’s instructions before using stoves, fuel, water treatment or navigation gear. Wild animals are unpredictable; keep your distance, store food as local rules require and never rely on an article to handle an encounter.
Who owns what
Articles, page design and original photographs are the property of the operator or are included by permission. Quoting a short passage with a visible credit is fine, and so is passing along a link to a route or gear piece. Reposting whole articles or folding them into a commercial product requires written consent.
Acceptable behaviour
Keep your use of Peakwilderness to reading and writing in. Scraping it with bots that slow it down, probing it for weaknesses, planting malicious code or using the contact address for spam are all off limits, as is any unlawful activity. Visitors who endanger the site or its readers in these ways can be shut out without notice.
What you send us
When you send a correction, a question or a topic idea, you confirm you are entitled to share it. You allow us to read it and use the idea to improve Peakwilderness, with no duty to reply or publish. Please do not send exact locations of sensitive wildlife sites.
Ads, affiliate links and outside sites
Peakwilderness may show advertising and may include affiliate links, which can earn the operator a small commission at no added cost to you. A commission never decides which tent, boot or stove is described or how it is rated. Pages here may point readers to retailers of boots, tents and packs, to park and trail authorities, or to conservation groups. Those sites sit outside our control, so before relying on a permit rule, trail status or product price found there, confirm it with the source itself.
Warranties and liability
The site is provided on an as-is basis. To the extent the law allows, the operator makes no promise that it will be accurate, complete or uninterrupted, and is not liable for loss, injury or damage arising from use of the site or from acting on a route, camping or wildlife article. Rights you hold under mandatory law remain intact, as does any liability the law does not allow to be excluded.
Changes and severability
The operator can revise these terms or the site whenever needed, and a revision takes effect when it appears here. If a court rules that one clause cannot be enforced, the remaining clauses still apply to your use of the site.
